The Spartan Invitational wrestling match is Saturday January 22nd at Sparta High School. This is one of the toughest tournaments for the Spartan wrestlers. There are seventeen teams that come to the tournament and there will be four State Champions coming to wrestle at the invite.
Every weight class is looking to have great matches in the finals. Most weight classes will end up being state qualifiers against other state qualifiers, making Sparta High School the place to be this weekend. Winning their own tournament would be a great accomplishment for the Sparta Wrestling team. Senior Nick Winchel said, "I feel like we are ready for this tournament. It's going to be hard, but we can do it."
Marshfield and Holmen are just a few of the tough teams that will be at the tournament. Marshfield is bringing two state champions and Holmen beat Sparta at the Stevens Point Dual tournament this last weekend. It is shaping up to be a fun and exciting tournament for the Spartans.
