Undefeated Hockey Team? Yes They Are!

This year has been a pretty great year for the Sparta West Salem high school hockey team. The team is number one in the conference and to this day has not lost a game. The hockey team has done very well this year and has a very strong team. Senior Channing Mathews said, "The best part about this season so far is being undefeated and being number one in conference, it is a very big deal for our team."

The last game the boys had was on Thursday, January 7th against Black River Falls. They ended up winning the game 8-2.

Senior Bryan Jenkins said, "This season we're kickin' butt. Our team is good and young to ensure their upcoming years will be good as well. We have great goal tending and hope to keep the 9-0 streak going."

Fan appreciation night, "What's My Age Again" that was put on by some of the students in Jamie Adams Sports and Entertainment class, was also on this night. They had all different kinds of fun things that ranged from throwing candy to sumo wrestling. They also had a raffle going on for winning a stick signed by all of the varsity hockey players.

The spectators range from different students and parents getting involved. But one of the best things is when teachers come out to support their school. One of the teachers that come to a majority of the hockey games this season is Woods teacher Jon Reid. He said, "They're going to state in my opinion. They play very well hitting games. We have very strong players and good goalies that play as a team. It's very nice to see different towns coming together and play well.

So as you can see, you don't want to miss out on any hockey games. With how well this team is doing this year, you don't want to miss out on any games! So please go out and support the Sparta West Salem hockey team. Keep up the great work and lets stay undefeated!
